How to Make Your Running Shoes Last Longer

“If the hill has its own name, then it's probably a pretty tough hill."
-Marty Stern

You should replace your running shoes every 300 to 400 miles, However, replacing your running shoes every two months gets expensive. So here are some tips to wear your running shoes only for exercise.

Wear your running shoes only for exercising. Even if you wear your running shoes just for walking around you are still wearing out the cushioning.

Take them on and off properly, do not take off your shoes without undoing the laces. Make sure you loosen your laces before you put your shoes on and off.

Dry your wet shoes properly, if your shoes get wet do not put them on direct heat like a radiator. Heat dries out the leather.Loosen the laces, take out the insoles and let them air dry away from heat.

Alternate shoes, if you run almost every day. It is recommended to rotate between two pairs of running shoes.

Store your shoes properly in a cool, dry place where they can air out.

Do you have any other suggestions to make your sures last longer?

Mizuno Wave Creation 14

“Be Yourself, Only Better” – Mizuno The Wave Creation 14 weighs in at 12.4 ounces, offers good stability and can handle high mileage. The wave softens the blow of heel strikers but complaints are that it has a stiff ride. One comment was that it took about 20 miles to break in, but then felt good. mizuno-wave-creation-14 Have any of you worn Mizunos? If you have what do you think of them?

Adidas Energy Boost

“Impossible is nothing” - Adidas The Adidas Energy Boost is the Runner’s World award winner for Best Debut. I have read of a lot of good things about this shoe all over the Internet. Comments include that it is a bouncy shoe without feeling overly cushioned. Runner’s World tested the Energy Boost midsole against 800 other shoes and it is truly the industry leader. That is the Energy Boost has the most spring back of any shoe. Adidas-Energy-Boost My favorite running shoe has been Asics, but these shoes are causing quite a buzz all over the web. The Adidas Energy Boost is one I will have to take a close look at when it is time to change shoes. I have never used Adidas Shoes. Have you? If so, what did you think of them?

Saucony Hurricane 15

"WE KNOW...BECAUSE WE RUN" - Saucony

Largely unchanged is the Hurricane 15 which offers a smooth ride and plenty of support for the over pronating foot. It is stable without being clunky and only weighs 11.2 ounces. I personally have worn the Saucony Hurricane in the past and have good luck with it.

I have used older versions of the Hurricane and liked it. What is your opinion of it?

Brooks Ravenna 4

“Runners will survive the Zombie Apocalypse” – Brooks

I am dedicating some of my upcoming space on my blog to running shoes. Spring is around the corner and I will soon be considering a new pair shoes. I have worn the Asics GT-2170 for quite some time. Compared to most of the newer shoes the 2170 is clunky. I would love to hear your comments and suggestions regarding running shoes as I plod through the most popular brands.

A Runner’s World Best Buy is the Brooks Ravenna 4 which proves that you do not have to have an oversized, ugly and expensive shoe to get excellent stability. New for this season is a little more cushion, a bit more flex, and a whole lot of swagger. The shoe offers sleek design lines and fast colors. Runners World bottom line was “For the price it’s awfully hard to beat this balance of features and ride.” All of this in a package that only weighs 11.1 ounces.

What do you think of the Brooks Ravenna 4? Have you tried it? If so how did you like it?
