"What matters is not necessarily
the size of the dog in the fight - it's the size of the fight in the dog."
- Dwight D. Eisenhower
Building mental stamina is vitally
important. It is one thing to start, it is another to finish. I get out of bed early
on Saturday mornings so I can run 16 miles to train for a marathon. I schedule
an hour of cross training at the local Y after working all day. I also run on
the treadmill two days to get all my miles in for the week. I work a job that
requires me to be in the office thirty plus hours and be on call seven days a
week. And then to complicate matters, I
need to try not to ignore those who are most important to me.
My week was pretty good overall. I got in a
total of 27 miles running and an hour at the Y with my personal trainer Eric.
Wednesday and Thursday I felt tired and sluggish. It was probably due to the
fact that I had not been eating right. Now get off the couch and run.
How was your training this week?
