Off Day

My goal was to make it 20 miles today, I made it 14.5 miles.I was running outside and at first I was having trouble holding my body back, my Garmin was showing that I was running over a minute a mile faster than I should have been. At 10 miles I felt like I could run forever but by 13.1 miles I had to stop and walk and at 14.5 miles I was washed out. Next weekend when I do my long run I am going to do interval training: run 1 mile then walk a minute. We all have off days, mine might have been caused because I have been struggling with my diet lately and I was going in a little heavier than I liked and possibly did not eat enough.
Any suggestions?

  1. Learning to hold back and run slow is much harder than it seems! Walking intervals will help, but bottom line is you have to learn to control your speed in training so you can control it in the excitement of a race start. (You scared me for a minute there, generally interval training refers to "speed intervals", I was thinking that would be a very bad start to a long run, LOL)
