I ran outside Saturday. It rained in the morning and I was eager to run outside. By the time I made it to 12 miles I was cold and damp. I began to wonder why I was so eager to run outside. I almost stopped running at 17 miles because it started sleeting. I had a bottle of Gatorade sitting on the front porch, stopped got a drink and got back to running. The sleet was cold and stung as it hit my face, but I was so close to my goal I kept on going.
I really enjoy reading your blog and seeing your progress. What an amazing job you've done! I am only working on running my 1st 5k but I still enjoy your running tips!
ReplyDeleteNice job, Art. I can't imagine running that far...yet! I'm working on a half-marathon in June, but truthfully, I walk - a lot! I'm hoping that training at 9000 ft will serve me well at sea level where I'll be doing my first half-marathon.
ReplyDeleteHowdy Art! What's your height so as to determine you BMI? Perhaps you can add your BMI along with your current weight? Keep up the great work!!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on all your hard work and the results!
Curious regarding your running workouts. Scanning them, it appears that you are running twice during the week at roughly 3.5 miles / workout, then a long run on the weekend (up to 20 miles).
Most programs suggest your long run be no more than 40-50% of total weekly mileage. I tend towards your end of the spectrum, with long runs at peak marathon training being 66% of my total mileage (6.2 Tues, 9 Thurs, 20-24 Sat). This however is with LOTS of X-training. Is that what you are doing as well?
Thanks
Awesome!! I invite you to follow my blog... www.wheelingtodisney.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI would not recommend running with headphones and music. if you use your mind to run its so much better and you will find better results that way
