Fit at Fifty Challenge

I am in the final stages of training for the Southern Indiana Classic Marathon on April 11. For the month of March I will post my goals for what I call my Fit at Fifty Challenge.   I will enter my weight on March 1 and 31, and  on each Sunday in between. Distances ran, run times, and goals will be charted as well. I will take two days off from running each week. I plan to  post a brief comment daily. I challenge you to join me and share your training data for the month. I encourage you to comment and make suggestions concerning my efforts as well as others who join the Fit At Fifty Challenge.  Hope to see you at the finish line March 31.

  1. I followed your post over here from the Hanson Brothers article on Runners World.

You sound exactly like myself, started running at 49, by just wanting to lose some weight and feel better. Three years later I'm still running and just completed my second marathon.

I'm not clear where you are in your training program, but I would recommend you look at the Hanson's training schedule. Us older guys tend to get injured a little more easily and that program kept me fit, and strong right through the end of the race.

Best of luck to you, good job.

  2. Hi Art!

I just subbed to your blog from over at Active.com and I'm looking forward to reading. I have a blog here too, feel free to sub me back. I posted about my 5K this past weekend, what a great time that was =)

I've had my blog for 2 years but I just now started writing in it again to log my training runs and be able to look back for memories and motivation. I am training for the Ragnar which will be ... in a month!
