Running after dark

I do not like running outside after dark, I worry about getting hit by a car. I found this article with three tips for running after dark:
  • Be seen: I own a reflective vest and a headband with LED lights in it.
  • Be smart: Know your route, I would not run a route at night that I had not ran in the daylight.
  • Be aware: Run in groups if possible, run against traffic, take your cell phone, and let people know the path you are taking.
  • Get Glympse: Glympse is a cell phone app that allows your family and friends to track your run on their cell phone or computer.
Are there any other good safety tips out there?

  1. If you look in the mirror and see a christmas tree and think I look ridiculous, then you should have enough light and reflective gear on. Don't forget to run with something like RoadID. Keep up the great work.

  2. Yes RoadID is great, I own one and wear it when running alone. Another product I've used for all my night running is a headlamp. Great $25 investment! Some of our streets are just poorly lit and during winter/spring, sidewalks become quite dangerous even when you can see what you're stepping on!
