I ran 16.5 miles today training for the Southern Indiana Classic Marathon on April 11,2011 in Evansville, Indiana. It felt very good to run outside. Running outdoors is the only way to truly guage your progress. I started running today at 2:30 pm on a path that had a few hills in it, because the Southern Indiana Classic Marathon is a hilly course. At 13.1 miles I finally had to stop and walk for a couple of minutes and then I started running again. At fourteen miles I had to stop and walk again, but this time the adrenaline had left my body and I was limp. The temperature was dropping, it was getting dark and I had my sunglasses on. I was close to home and I almost went in, but a little voice in my head said, "It is gut check time cupcake, suck it up." I kept going alternating between running and walking until I finally reached my goal of sweet 16.
How is your training going? I would appreciate any comments.
Great job on your training run!
