Music Monday: Danger Zone

"I feel the need - the need for speed." – Maverick (Top Gun)

Back in the eighties I sold electronics. The movie “Top Gun” probably sold more Dolby Surround Sound systems in the eighties than all other movies combined. Whenever you walked into an electronics store to look at a surround sound system it was their demo. I can remember playing “Top Gun” on a good Pioneer, Bose or Cerwin-Vega system, and the sonic booms in the movie could literally make the windows in the store rattle.

Now that I am a little bit older  I do not listen to my music quite as loud as I used to. But I still enjoy listening to the song “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins  as I run and remember the good old days. Here is an interesting bit of trivia regarding “Danger Zone”. Kenny Loggins was the third choice to sing the song, Both Toto and Reo Speedwagon were considered before him.

What are some of your favorite songs from the movies?

  1. Actually, I still listen to my music fairly loud. I guess I'm just a kid at heart.

    1. I must agree there are some songs that are meant to be played loud.

  2. I have this problem where I hear a song in a movie and then can never remember it when I want to find it!

  3. It's a bit of a cliché but I like the theme of the movie Rocky to run to.
Otherwise I like to listen to country and western songs.
